Rick Calvert

Rick Calvert is a serial entrepreneur and the CEO and Co-founder of New Media Expo; the world’s largest social media event. He has been involved in numerous start-up businesses including sunglasses, wake boards, snowboards and clothing companies. He fell in love with trade shows the first time he drove the company’s booth across the country to the Motorcycle Dealer Show in Cincinnati. He has been active in the trade show industry since 1997 serving as Director of Sales for three Tradeshow Week 200 events including the SEMA Show, AWFS Vegas and the DEMA Show, as well as one of the nation’s largest consumer shows, Comicon. He read his first blog in 2000 and was immediately addicted. He launched his own blog in 2005. In October of 2006 he realized he could combine his two passions and founded BlogWorld & New Media Expo with his business partner Dave Cynkin. He currently resides in San Diego, California with his wife, two dogs and two cats.

Brittany Bailey is an Atlanta, GA native and a 2007 graduate of Georgia State University. In 2009 she created Genesis Magazine which highlighted entrepreneurs, good news, and community heroes. In 2013 Genesis Magazine became WHO New York: Who’s Who in NYC business fashion and culture. Brittany is also the organizer for Meet the Media a NYC premium media event that introduces quality entrepreneurs to top media executives and hears from them how to build successful media relationships. Brittany resides with her husband Rohan and her stepson Ayden in downtown Manhattan.

Paul Downs started making custom furniture in 1986, shortly after graduating from the University of Pennsylvania. His company, Paul Downs Cabinetmakers, grew to a peak of 23 employees and $2.3 million in sales in 2008. The recession caused the company to shrink dramatically, to seven employees and $1.4 million in sales in 2009. It has since grown again to 17 employees and $2.4 million in sales. Mr. Downs has chronicled that rebirth in the “You’re the Boss” blog in the New York Times. Mr. Downs is married, has three sons, and lives outside Philadelphia.
